The United Nations Academic Impact cordially invites you to an event under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly Committee on Information and in association with the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations,
to celebrate

International Jazz Day

Monday, 30 April 2012, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Conference Room 2 (North Lawn Building)
United Nations Headquarters.

The programme will include a symposium entitled, “Unlearning Intolerance: Jazz as a force for education and dialogue” and the screening of a film titled “Finding Carlton” by Susheel Kurien, on jazz’s “migration” to India.

Speakers will include:
H.E. Ambassador Eduardo Ulibarri, Chair, Committee on Information and Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the United Nations, Amir Elsaffar, Iraqi-American trumpeter, santur player, vocalist, and composer, Grace Kelly, saxophonist, graduate of Berklee College of Music, Susheel Kurien, film-maker, Jose’ Masso. host/producer of “ConSalsa!” on WBUR 90.9FM, Boston, Alexandra Yabrov: Operations Manager at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston where she has been since 2000.

Attendees are requested to enter the United Nations at the Visitors’ Entrance (First Avenue between 45th and 46th Streets, on the west side) by 2.30 pm. on 30 April where, after clearing security, they will be guided to the event venue.
